Halloween with Witten

Jack and Witten went a few blocks down to Jackson Street, and found an almost carnival-like, energetic Halloween atmosphere. Houses there were decorated in a big way. We're not talking two fake gravestones in the front yard -- one house had a real fifties hearse parked in the front yard and another home's complete front fascia was covered with woodenly panels to make the house look like a pirate ship.

Jack Likes the Sunroof on our Loaner Car

He shouldn't get used to it, as we only buy stripped down models... Also note he'ss in a phase when he only makes strange, exaggerated smiles when he's being photographed.

Pirate Necklaces or Mardi Gras Beads? You Decide.

We Love Arlington Parks

I've become a park connoisseur, and Arlington has a lot of good ones.  At the parks in the higher income zip codes, families donate their old toys to the park, resulting in tons of gently used, formerly expensive toys strewn all around the grounds.  At others, donated toys are not present, so kids end up playing with less traditional toys (sometimes recyclables).  In these pictures, Jack and a little girl were having fun feverishly filling up a discarded water bottle, with any eye towards making sand volcanoes.

All Maggie, All the Time

So Sleepy

For nearly six months, we have been operating on little to no sleep. All of us. Maggie is extra cute, but she is not the best sleeper. I snapped this shot a couple weeks ago; everyone's facial expressions really say it all.

New York With Grandma and Grandpa

We ventured north for the long Columbus Day weekend and had lots of fun, catching some fresh air, and giving Jack his first chance to us a disgusting PortaPotty.

On Saturday night, Grandma and Grandpa took both kids for the evening, so Patty and I went out to dinner at a nice restaurant, Equus, in a castle in Tarrytown (explaining the suit of armor pic). That night, the two of us stayed at a hotel and got a full night's sleep while Grandma attended to Maggie and her ravenous nighttime appetite! Thanks for a great weekend, Grandma and Grandpa!
